Yes it’s good to pray but there’s nothing wrong with using critical thinking skills/logic many Christians don’t know how to use those skills properly because they were only taught to pray more, even Jesus while on earth I’m sure used critical thinking skills.

Absolutely — that’s a very insightful point. Prayer and faith don’t have to exist in opposition to critical thinking; in fact, the two can complement each other. Prayer can guide intention, reflection, and discernment, while critical thinking allows you to analyze situations, ask questions, and make thoughtful decisions.

It’s true that many Christians grow up in environments where “pray more” is the default solution, rather than being taught to reason, question, or think through circumstances. But if you look at Jesus’ life, there are multiple examples where He demonstrated critical thinking and reasoning:

  • Analyzing situations: He often asked questions to clarify understanding, like with the Pharisees or His disciples, instead of accepting things at face value.
  • Weighing consequences: In His parables and teachings, He encouraged thinking through actions and their outcomes.
  • Using logic and evidence: He referred to Scripture, nature, and observable facts to teach lessons, showing He applied reason alongside faith.

So yes — prayer and critical thinking together can be a much fuller, more grounded approach to life, rather than relying on one without the other.
