Why Ariel from The Little Mermaid Relates to Me as an Author

  • Posted on January 17, 2026

I’ve always felt a connection to Ariel, not just as a character, but as a kindred spirit for anyone who dares to follow their passion. As an author, her story resonates with me in ways that go beyond the surface of mermaids and magic.

Ariel is endlessly curious. She looks beyond her world, fascinated by what she doesn’t yet know. As a writer, that curiosity drives me to explore new ideas, emotions, and experiences—diving into the unknown to tell stories that matter.

She also breaks boundaries. Ariel leaves the safety of the sea, risking everything to pursue her dreams. Writing often feels the same: stepping into vulnerability, challenging norms, and sharing pieces of myself that not everyone may understand or accept.

And then there’s sacrifice. Ariel gives up her voice to chase what she loves. As an author, I know what it means to give time, energy, and parts of myself to a story, even when it’s difficult or uncertain. It’s a risk, but it’s worth it to be heard.

Ultimately, Ariel is about finding your voice—and using it. As writers, we do the same. We take the leap, brave the unknown, and share our stories, hoping to connect, inspire, and leave a mark.

Ariel reminds me that passion is worth the risk, curiosity is a compass, and finding your voice is everything. As an author, I feel her journey in every word I write.
