The “Don’t Be Too Attractive” Rule
- Message: Women are told to dress modestly or “not be tempting” to men.
- Effect: Women may suppress natural self-expression, avoid styles they like, or downplay physical traits that make them feel confident.
- Trap: At the same time, the church teaches that a woman should attract a godly husband. But if she never shows any attractiveness, she’s essentially invisible to potential partners. This creates a paradox: be attractive enough to marry, but not too attractive, ever.
