Human Love vs. God’s Love: Understanding the Difference
Christians are often taught that God’s love is perfect and unconditional, and that human love falls short by comparison. That’s true—but it doesn’t mean human love is evil or wrong. Human love, whether from the saved or unsaved, naturally has limitations and changes over time. That’s simply human nature.
Most people experience love in their teens or young adulthood. It may last for a few years, and then—sometimes—things shift. People grow apart, interests change, or new relationships form. This isn’t sin; it’s a normal part of life. Even Jesus understood how humans think, feel, and relate to one another.
God doesn’t necessarily expect our human love to fully mirror His perfect love. Instead, He cares about our hearts, our integrity, and how we treat others—even when love changes or ends. Falling in and out of love, learning from relationships, and growing emotionally are all part of God’s design for human experience.
The truth is: human love isn’t evil. It’s limited by nature, but it’s still real, valuable, and meaningful. God honors that reality, and He walks with us through every season of love.
