Church sex sermon series that I attended as a teen: rules emphasized, but no mention of teens talking to their parents about sex especially for kids who felt uncomfortable doing so, parents maybe should’ve been in attendance on guidance for how to talk to their kids about it, also no consideration of kids who are being raised differently; if parents told them it’s okay to have sex before marriage long as protection is used etc, many kids will believe their parent over the youth leader, also no mention of what to do if raped, like options, support, therapy etc and rules that getting pregnant= put out of youth department, but not considering pregnancy from rape or incest and what to do/support smh 🤦🏽‍♀️ many churches simply hold the belief of just pray your way through and give some words of encouragement which can be beneficial, but not enough, it’s a difference of information vs strict rules; my book is full of information/my personal experiences and not just strict rules. The church sex sermon series didn’t help me I feel or didn’t prepare me for my future, and how to recognize abuse, teens who had sinned sexually were offered prayer, but hmm why wasn’t there any prayer regarding sexual abuse, or prayer for it to be prevented! Hmm 🤔 churches must do better for the teens and young adults!
