Some People Never Truly Care—and That’s Okay

  • Posted on March 14, 2026

After my rape, many people didn’t support me. Some treated me as if my pain, my life, and my worth didn’t matter. Even after I rebuilt my life and became a successful author, some of those same people still acted as though I was less important.

The lesson I’ve learned is simple, though hard: some people never cared, in good times or bad. Trauma didn’t create this truth, but it exposed it—opened my eyes to who truly matters and who only exists in my life superficially.

It’s a strong, undeniable reality: your value isn’t determined by who notices it or supports it. God didn’t orchestrate my pain to punish me; He allowed the experiences to show me the truth and strengthen my vision.

I survived. I rebuilt. I thrived. And now, I no longer waste energy on those who never truly cared. Their indifference says nothing about me and everything about them.

I choose clarity over approval. I choose myself over the opinions of those who never stood with me. And that choice—that reclaiming of my life—is everything.
