Listen to Your Body — It Knows

  • Posted on April 4, 2026

After my rape, I noticed my body was sending signals I couldn’t ignore: nausea, trouble eating, lighter and shorter periods… almost like pregnancy symptoms, but they weren’t. Looking back, I realize my body was trying to tell me something was wrong—that what happened to me wasn’t right.

Our bodies are wise. They remember trauma before our minds fully process it. They send us signs, whispers, and warnings. When abuse occurs, our bodies know what’s right and what isn’t—even if our hearts or minds are still catching up.

Pay attention to your body. It doesn’t lie.
