Life Issues Are Part of Life — Saved or Not

  • Posted on March 15, 2026

One of the most misunderstood truths in Christian life is this: life issues are part of life. Being saved doesn’t automatically shield us from struggles, and facing difficulties doesn’t always mean there’s unforgiveness in your heart.

Many people believe that if you’re walking with God and still struggling, it must be because of some hidden sin or unresolved bitterness. While unforgiveness can sometimes complicate life and magnify pain, it’s not the root cause of every challenge.

Life Issues Happen to Everyone

Life is full of unexpected twists, no matter your faith:

  1. Health struggles – Illness, injuries, or chronic conditions can affect anyone. Even the most faithful believer may face serious health challenges.
  2. Financial challenges – Job loss, economic instability, or sudden expenses happen to people walking closely with God. Hardship isn’t always spiritual punishment.
  3. Relationship conflicts – Family tension, breakups, or betrayal can happen even when we’ve forgiven and let go. Other people’s actions can create challenges that aren’t ours to carry.
  4. Loss and grief – Losing a loved one, a home, or an opportunity is painful, and grief is natural. These hardships are part of life’s realities, not evidence of spiritual failure.
  5. Spiritual growth and testing – God sometimes allows hardships to refine our faith, patience, and dependence on Him, just like He did in the life of Joseph.
  6. Injustice and circumstance – Random events or systemic issues can cause difficulties, completely unrelated to our attitudes or actions.

The Takeaway

Struggles don’t equal unforgiveness, sin, or spiritual weakness. They’re a normal part of life in a fallen world. The difference is how we respond: leaning on God, growing through the process, and trusting His timing and purpose.

Unforgiveness can make life harder, but it’s not the source of every challenge. Life simply comes with seasons of difficulty, and even the faithful encounter trials. The key is to walk through them with faith, not guilt.
