In 2020, at my old church, the word for the year was “restoration.” At that time, I didn’t see it. I didn’t feel it. Honestly, life didn’t look restored at all.

But now I can look back and see something deeper at work.

About two years later, I began processing my rape—something that changed the way I saw myself, my life, and my future. In that season, I didn’t always recognize what was happening spiritually or emotionally, but healing was still unfolding.

What I didn’t understand then, I can understand now: God often speaks in advance, restoration doesn’t always show up when it’s spoken. Sometimes it unfolds slowly, quietly, over time. Sometimes you don’t see the evidence in the moment—you only recognize it in hindsight.

Back in 2025 and now in 2026, I can honestly say I feel like I am reaping from that word spoken in 2020. Pieces of my life, identity, and purpose are being restored in ways I didn’t expect.

God was moving even when I couldn’t see it. Even when I couldn’t feel it.

His timing is not rushed. It’s not delayed. It’s right on time.
