I remember when I was in 10th grade like yesterday, I started my Facebook around that time, I use to post soooooo much on facebook especially cute/random pictures, I remember I used to love taking pictures of me blowing a bubble with my bubble gum, I remember posting this picture on facebook, after posting the cute picture of me blowing a bubble with my bubble gum, this boy who went to my school commented on it and asked me if I knew how to blow on a d*** like that. I immediately responded and told him that I didn’t do that at all and soon I even deleted the comment! This was a clear form of online sexual abuse. The comment didn’t get to me like that, but for others that type of comment could’ve led to negative effects on mental health and even possibly suicide. Parents should teach their kids to respect others at all times including online! Parents should also monitor their kids social media including teens, online abuse doesn’t just come from adults, but it can come from peers too! No one has any right to write anything derogatory on your social media without your consent, even if it’s a friend, boyfriend, girlfriend etc. I simply deleted the comment, but didn’t tell my parents or the school! When stuff like this happens kids should know that they have a safe place to speak up, reporting doesn’t just protect you it protects others too! Let’s end all forms of sexual abuse, by not staying silent and reporting it early on! It’s not that sex is completely bad or that even a sexy comment is inherently bad, but there should be consent and boundaries, even for adults, if you’re dating or married you may not want your significant other/spouse to say anything sexual on your social media and only in private instead and the other party should respect that period! 💯 Chapter 11 of my book discusses online abuse and boundaries etc
