I never expected to become a book author in my early thirties. I always knew I was different, but I didn’t know how different until now. Most people my age are getting married, starting families—building the life everyone says you’re supposed to build by this point. And there’s nothing wrong with that — I’m not against marriage or children at all.

But my book gave me something a spouse or a child never could.

God knows what we truly need, even when we don’t. So many people walk into marriage or parenthood hoping their spouse or their child will complete them, heal them, or fix what’s broken inside. When that doesn’t happen, frustration turns into pressure — pressure placed on a partner, or even worse, on a child, to carry wounds they never created.

For me, my book became my healing.

It took me back to my childhood, carried me through my present, and gave me vision for my future. It molded me. It helped me grow. It taught me how to love myself.

For many, marriage and family feel like items on a life checklist — expectations handed down by society and the church. Often they’re entered into impulsively, without deep reflection or intention.

But becoming an author wasn’t impulsive for me.

It was on purpose, for a purpose.

This wasn’t a box to check.
This was a calling to answer.
