I don’t believe young girls should avoid makeup because of predators. My concern is more about development and identity. Childhood is a time when kids are discovering who they are, what they enjoy, and how to use their imagination. Introducing makeup too early can unintentionally place pressure on appearance before a child has formed confidence in other parts of themselves.

When beauty expectations start too soon, some children may begin to believe they are more worthy of attention or love when they look a certain way. Waiting until around ages 12–15 allows a girl to have a stronger sense of identity and maturity, so makeup becomes a form of self-expression rather than something tied to her value.
