From Red Tricycles to Red Books: A Full Circle of Independence
- Posted on March 28, 2026
In 1995, for my 3rd birthday, I got a red tricycle. I remember feeling so excited, like I’d suddenly become a “big kid.” My older sister already had a bike, and I wanted to be like her—mature, independent, exploring the world on my own. That tricycle wasn’t just a gift; it was my first taste of freedom, a symbol that I could go where I wanted and start carving out my own path.
Fast forward to 2025, for my 33rd birthday, I had just published my first book… in red. I felt the same excitement I did as a child. I wasn’t working for anyone—I was creating, exploring, and shaping my life on my own terms. My book, like that tricycle, is a tool for independence and exploration, only now I’m navigating ideas and stories instead of sidewalks.
Looking back, it’s amazing to see the thread of independence running through my life—from a little kid pedaling a red tricycle, to an adult launching a red book into the world. Some things change, but the joy of doing your own thing and discovering who you are remains the same. Wow! And funny biblically the color red represents victory in life and overcoming! In 1995 I had my first taste of victory as a new rider and overcame fear and in 2025 I had victory as a new author and overcame fear by telling all in my book! In 1995 God had me get on the bike and be seen all throughout the neighborhood, wow!
In 2025, God had me get on a book cover and be seen all throughout the world wow! 🤩 a tricycle is small, yet requires strength, perseverance and confidence, and so is a book 📕 small, yet also requires strength, perseverance and confidence! Wow! Age 3 is often a age of exploring, and more independence, at age 3 most kids parents let them start doing more “big kid” activities because they are now more mature vs as a baby, and in same way for me age 33 has been a age of exploring, God has now equipped me to do bigger things, he knows I’m more mature now and no longer a baby! Take note! At 3 many kids are fearless, and now at 33 I’m fearless! Amen!
