From Hair to Healing: My Unexpected Path as an Educator

  • Posted on March 29, 2026

For a brief moment in my life, I imagined myself as a cosmetology instructor—teaching people about hair, styles, and confidence. It seemed like a creative, fulfilling way to help others feel good about themselves.

But life had a different kind of classroom in mind for me. Today, I’m an educator on a subject far deeper, far more personal: healing from sexual abuse. Through my book, I teach survivors that they are not guilty, that their trauma is not a sin, and that freedom is possible.

It’s funny, in a way. Hair and healing don’t seem related. One is about appearances; the other, about reclaiming your very soul. Yet at the heart of both is empowerment—giving people the tools to feel strong, confident, and whole again.

Writing this book was my way of stepping into that unexpected classroom. I never thought I’d share such intimate truths with the world. But just as a teacher helps students grow, I now guide readers toward understanding, release, and hope.

Life has a funny way of showing us our true purpose. I thought I’d educate on hair. Instead, I educate on liberation. And in that, I’ve found a calling far more meaningful than I could have ever imagined.
