Conferences Are Tools, Not the Source

  • Posted on March 16, 2026

I’ve attended church conferences—healing conferences, youth conferences, you name it. And I’ve learned something important from my own experiences: a conference can never replace God.

I remember going to a healing conference when I was about 11. I hoped and expected to receive immediate healing—but nothing happened. I felt discouraged 🫤. Yet, over time, God still healed me in His timing and in His way. That moment taught me that while a conference can be inspiring, it is limited. God is not.

Conferences can be a starting point—they can motivate you, open your heart, and create opportunities for breakthrough. But they aren’t a magic formula, and not everyone will experience healing or freedom in the same way, or at the same time. Sometimes, an encounter with God at home, at work, or even in the hospital can be more powerful and unmistakably His than anything organized by humans.

One thing I’ve noticed is that conferences can unintentionally create a pattern where people only seek God when they need a breakthrough—big problems, big decisions, big pain. But God wants to meet us in the small, everyday moments too, not just the dramatic ones.

The key is this: don’t rely on a conference more than you rely on God. Don’t make it the “go-to” solution for every struggle or need. Instead, let conferences be tools that point you toward a bigger goal—learning to trust God personally. To seek Him, hear Him, and walk in what He has for you, even when no one else is leading or praying over you.

Ultimately, a conference can inspire or catalyze change, but true transformation happens when you connect with God on your own, consistently, wherever life takes you. That’s when you start unlocking all that He has for you.

Amen to that. 🙏
