Being Yourself Is the Real Glow-Up
- Posted on February 17, 2026
For years, people tried to change me — how I dressed, how I wore my hair, my makeup, my whole presentation. Everyone had an opinion on who I should be.
Then I thought about an episode of Good Times. Michael liked Yvonne, but she ended up falling for J.J. — not because he was perfect, but because he was comfortable being himself. When Michael tried to imitate J.J., it didn’t work. She could feel it wasn’t real.
That hit me.
People don’t truly connect with versions of us we perform. They connect with authenticity. Confidence isn’t about looking flawless — it’s about being at peace with who you are.
For so long, I felt pressured to fit someone else’s image of me. But the truth is, the moment you stop performing and start showing up as yourself, everything changes.
You don’t attract people by being perfect.
You attract them by being real.
And being real? That’s the kind of beauty nobody can copy.
