After my rape, I stepped back from the church. I didn’t feel like I belonged. Too often, churches have zero compassion for sex outside marriage—even in rape cases. And let’s be real: many churches can be controlling. For a rape survivor, control is a trigger.

This wasn’t me rejecting God—it was me protecting myself. My faith didn’t disappear; I just needed space to heal without judgment. God’s love isn’t about rules or control. It’s about compassion, presence, and restoration.
