The myth: older women automatically have wisdom.

  • Posted on December 1, 2025

We’ve all heard this before and in reality it is a myth that older= wise! The truth is that many older women have lived through turbulent events in different areas. But truth is they never received the healing from those events so their endurance of hell is made into wisdom often by others. Truth is they went through hell and never received the healing they needed when they were young and now in their old age they are often bitter, hurt, and even hateful due to what all they had to endure and then they project that onto the younger women, their daughters, granddaughters, etc. Sadly most older women project what was put on them when they were young, they project the same hurt, abuse and even the lies they got told when they were young and upon doing that the cycle just continues and continues from generation to generation. The reality is wisdom is not limited to age or life experiences alone, true wisdom comes from investing in yourself, doing the work, choosing to heal on purpose, therapy, support groups, healthy relationships/friendships. Those are the things that’s given me wisdom thus far and I’m not a older woman. However when I do get in my old age I won’t be left bitter, unhealed and projecting my own past hurts, I’ll simply be the example of a woman who chose healing on purpose. Throughout my life, in my teens, 20’s and now 30’s I’ve encountered women who were older and deemed as wise, but truthfully they were just old and unhealed still! Stuck in old ways of thinking, stuck in learnt unhealthy thinking patterns and behaviors.Sadly in the older generations women weren’t able to think for themselves. But now it’s time to break out, be the change and sing a different tune! Create a new story! Leave a new legacy!
