Prep Seasons: From Handmade Pieces to Published Pages

  • Posted on February 11, 2026

In 2020, I was selling products on eBay.

Not random products.

Not things I picked up and flipped.

Things I made.

Small handmade items.
A few pieces of clothing I created myself.

At the time, it felt simple. Just me, my creativity, and a platform.

But now — 5 to 6 years later — I’m selling my own book.

And when I really sit with that?

Wow.

Because this isn’t a random jump. It’s a continuation.

Back then, I was already a creator.

I was already:

  • Designing
  • Producing
  • Packaging
  • Pricing
  • Promoting

I was already putting pieces of myself into the world.

The scale was smaller.
The visibility was lower.
The impact felt quieter.

But the skill? The courage? The discipline?

It was building.

When you make something with your own hands and put it up for sale, that requires vulnerability. Someone can reject it. Ignore it. Critique it. Not buy it.

That builds thick skin.

Now I’m selling something even more personal.

Not fabric.
Not handmade items.

My thoughts.
My voice.
My healing.
My perspective.

Back then, I was stitching fabric.

Now, I’m stitching chapters.

Back then, I was creating pieces people could wear.

Now, I’m creating words people can carry.

It’s the same creative spirit — just evolved.

Prep seasons don’t always look big. Sometimes they look like:

  • Small online listings
  • Late nights working quietly
  • Creating without applause
  • Learning through trial and error

But nothing was wasted.

Every handmade item was practice in ownership.

Every sale was practice in confidence.

Every listing was practice in presentation.

I wasn’t just “selling on eBay.”

I was learning how to stand behind something I made.

And now?

I stand behind my book the same way.

Different platform.
Same creator.
Higher level.

Some seasons are sewing seasons.
Some seasons are publishing seasons.

Both matter.

And when I look back, I see it clearly —

I was never just selling small items.

I was building the woman who would one day sell her words. 👑
