God’s Better Plan: Finding Rest in My Calling

  • Posted on January 28, 2026

For years, I believed that success meant constant movement—leaving the house every day, running around, standing on my feet, juggling a traditional job, and trying to “do it all.” I thought that hard work had to be exhausting, both physically and mentally.

But then, a few years ago in a quiet moment of seeking clarity about my purpose, I heard God say to me: “You’ll never work a day in your life.” At the time, I didn’t fully understand what He meant. I thought, “How can that be? Don’t I have to work hard to make something of myself?”

Now, I see it clearly. God had a better plan all along. My calling as an author allows me to work from a place of rest, not exhaustion. The effort—the labor, the creation, the foundation—has already been done. I’ve written the words, shaped the stories, and laid the groundwork. Now, I can step back, trust, and allow the impact to flow naturally. No long commutes, no standing on my feet all day, no mental or emotional drain. Even with future books, I can still write right from the comfort of my own home, and even if I don’t want to write it myself I can always get a ghost writer wow! But even with a ghost writer, the authenticity would still be me, I could tell my ghost writer exactly what to say, how to sound etc.

This journey has taught me a profound lesson: sometimes God’s plan isn’t about working harder; it’s about aligning with the work He’s already prepared for you. When we step into our true calling, the stress falls away, and what remains is joy, peace, and a beautiful sense of ease.

If you’re feeling burned out, overworked, or stuck in a hustle that drains you, remember this: maybe the work you’re meant to do doesn’t have to be hard. Maybe the path God has for you includes rest, creativity, and fulfillment without exhaustion.

I’m living proof that sometimes, the “job” is already done—and all that’s left is to step into the rest and watch the blessings unfold.
