Stepping Into My Kingdom: How The Lion King Reflects My Journey as an Author

  • Posted on January 21, 2026

When I watch The Lion King and see Simba finally step onto the throne as king, I don’t just see a lion reclaiming his place—I see my own journey reflected on the screen. His story mirrors mine in ways that feel deeply personal.

Simba didn’t become king overnight. He faced loss, betrayal, and self-doubt. He wandered through the wilderness, uncertain of his path, weighed down by the mistakes and tragedies of his past. Yet, every trial shaped him, preparing him for the role he was born to fulfill.

As an author, I feel the same way. Every hardship I’ve endured, every challenge I’ve faced, and every moment of doubt has fueled my writing. My life experiences—both painful and joyous—are the foundation of my stories, giving them depth, authenticity, and heart. Like Simba, I’ve had to face my own “wilderness” and confront my fears before I could fully claim my purpose.

Stepping into the role of an author is not just about writing books—it’s about embracing responsibility. It’s about owning your voice and sharing your truth, even when it feels vulnerable or difficult. Simba’s rise to kingship is a reminder that taking your place in life, in your craft, and in the world requires courage.

There’s also a beauty in breaking cycles. Simba didn’t just become king for himself—he restored balance to the Pride Lands. In my own life, writing has become a way to break cycles of doubt, fear, and negativity. Every story I tell, every word I put on the page, is a step toward transforming my past into something meaningful and lasting.

When Simba roars from Pride Rock, signaling a new beginning, I see the power of stepping into your purpose. Life may have thrown hardships in my way, but they were never in vain. They prepared me for this moment—the moment I embrace my calling as an author, and the moment I fully claim my voice.

The Lion King isn’t just a story about a lion. It’s a story about resilience, purpose, and reclaiming what is rightfully yours. And as I continue on my journey, I know that like Simba, I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. And I can never forget my stuffed lion that I had at 3 years old , funny childhood toys aren’t In vain, they serve an unseen purpose. Wow!
